Why use Natural Deodorant?
Traditional antiperspirants contain metals like aluminium and other chemicals which prevent sweating by clogging sweat glands.
Many natural deodorants replace this with bicarbonate of soda or baking soda, but this can cause skin rashes and dry, itchy skin due to it being alkaline.
The skin is meant to be slightly acidic, with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5, baking soda has a pH of 9. Increasing the pH of your skin in this way can disrupt the skin barrier and lead to irritation.
What does Bare use?
We use food grade Diatomaceous Earth (DE) to neutralise odour and absorb moisture. DE is almost pH neutral, meaning it won’t irritate the skin. It also works to draw out any toxins and heavy metals from the body.

Switching to Natural Deodorant
It can take between 2-4 weeks for your body to regulate itself after changing to a natural deodorant. Stick with it!
Your sweat glands and pores will be blocked with aluminium and other chemicals after years of using traditional deodorants and they can take a few days to clear up. You may notice an increase in odour before levels start to subside and normalise.
This is due to a temporary increase in odour causing bacteria. You may also feel an increase in sweat, which is the body’s natural way of flushing out toxins. Your body is going through a detox phase, and this can take a few weeks to settle.
Try washing with a Charcoal Soap during this transition phase to help speed up the process.

These deoderents are really worth a try. Better than the alternatives I’ve used. They smell really nice, they work, there isn’t any plastic waste, and they’re not wet like roll-ons.
